Moeller Crusaders Top Upper Arlington
The Moeller Crusaders beat Upper Arlington 6-3 at the Cincinnati Reds Youth Academy on Saturday as part of the Reds Futures High School Showcase.
The Crusaders opened up the scoring in the second inning when
Michael Tennie singled on a 2-2 count, scoring one run.
The Crusaders pulled away for good with five runs in the fourth inning. In the fourth
Quinton Morris's sac fly scored one run, Tennie singled on a 2-0 count, scoring one run,
Bryce Davenport doubled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring two runs, and an error scored another for Moeller.
Justin Hornschemeier led the Moeller Crusaders Varsity to victory on the hill. He allowed two hits and two runs over four innings, striking out three.
Andrew Deyhle threw three innings in relief out of the bullpen. Deyhle recorded the last nine outs to earn the save for Moeller Crusaders Varsity.
Charlie Fleming took the loss for Upper Arlington. He surrendered six runs on seven hits over four innings, striking out seven and walking one.
Moeller Crusaders Varsity totaled eight hits in the game.
Ryan Galanie and Tennie each managed two hits to lead Moeller. The Crusaders did not commit a single error in the field.
Upper Arlington tallied eight hits on the day. Steven Bair and Sammie Sass each collected multiple hits for Upper Arlington.
