Mike Cameron

Mike Cameron—JV Head Coach—Coach Cameron will lead the JV program for the third straight season in 2019 season after serving in various roles from 2009-2016—ranging from a freshman assistant to a special advisor to the program. Mike was the varsity baseball coach at Moeller High School for thirty-nine years (1969-2007). His overall record was 767-303. Four times, 1972, 1989, 1993, and 2004 his teams won the state title. Ten times they were district champions and five times regional champions. Under his guidance, Moeller won two state poll titles, eight city crowns and 20 Greater Catholic league championships. On six different occasions his teams at Moeller finished the season being nationally ranked.
 
Over 130 of Coach Cameron's players went on to play college baseball, while 28 have signed professional contracts. Ten of these former players have made it to the major leagues. The list includes: Buddy Bell '69, Len Matuszek '72, Bill Long '78, Barry Larkin '82, Ken Griffey Jr. '87, David Bell '90, Mike Bell '93, and Adam Hyzdu '90, Andrew Brackman ’04, and Eric Surkamp ‘05.
 
Coach Cameron was inducted into the Moeller High School Hall of Fame in 1991, the Ohio High School Baseball Coaches Hall of Fame in 1993, the Purcell Marian High School Hall of Fame in 2001, and the LaRosa's Hall of Fame in 2002. In 1998, Coach Cameron was selected the region 4 National Coach of the year. Five times he has been named coach of the year in greater Cincinnati and 17 times the league's coach of the year. In 2007, Mike was named the Bob Sumerel Tire and Service High School Coach of the Year presented by the Cincinnati Reds. In 2013, he received Purcell Marian’s highest honor awarded to a graduate: the Praetens Inter Omes award (Outstanding Among All).  In January of 2016, Mike was presented the Bron Bacevich award by Roger Bacon High School in honor of their legendary football coach.
 
Mike was a teacher in the Health and Physical Education department at Moeller, where he was also the department chair, before retiring at the end of the 2009 school year.

Mike lives in Deerfield Township with his wife Nancy. They have three children; Karen, Lynn, Joe and seven grandchildren.
