Carl Kremer

Carl Kremer, Principal and Head Varsity Coach
 
Carl Kremer graduated in 1978 from Miami East High School in Troy, OH. He received his bachelor’s degree in history in 1982 and his master’s degree in counseling in 1984 from Eastern Kentucky University. His administrative coursework was done at the University of Cincinnati. 
 
Carl has been a member of the Moeller staff since 1984. During his first eight years, he taught a variety of subjects, including history, government, and English. He served as the assistant principal/dean of students until the fall of 2017, when he was named interim principal and then name permanent principal in February of 2018. 
 
Carl has been coaching basketball for the Crusaders for 34 years – 28 as the head varsity coach. In those 28 years, Coach Kremer has compiled a 546-157 record. His teams have won the Greater Catholic League championships 21 out of the past 25 years. He has led his Crusaders to six city championships in 1994, 2004, 2008, 2014, 2017 and 2018; 13 District Championships in ’94, ’99, ’03, ’04, ’05, ’07, ’10, ’11, ’12, ’14, ’15, ’16, '17 and ‘18, seven Regional Championships in ’99, ’03, ’05, ’07, ’10,'17 and ‘18; one state Final Four in ’05; two State Runner-Up finishes in ’10 and ’17; and four Division 1 State Championships in ’99, ’03, ’07 and ‘18. 
 
Coach Kremer has also received local and state-level individual recognition. He has been named the GCL Coach of the Year ten times and Ohio Co-Coach of the Year in 1994 and 2017. Carl was named the Cincinnati Coach of the Year in 1999, 2003, 2007, 2010, and 2017. In 2010, he was selected to coach in the prestigious McDonald’s All-American game. Carl has also coached the Ohio/Kentucky All-Star game in 2001 and 2003, as well as the Ohio North/South All-Star game in 2000. 
 
In 2005, Coach Kremer was inducted into the Moeller Hall of Fame, and in 2013 he was inducted into The Cincinnati Basketball Hall of Fame. 
 
Carl and his wife, Johanna, reside in Loveland, OH. They have a son, Joe (Moeller ‘12; Dayton ‘17) and daughter, Jackie (MND ‘12; Dayton ‘16).
